BLOG 1 :  Popular Prayer … But NOT Theologically Correct: WHY?

Question: What is theologically wrong with the popular prayer below?  Why are parts of it wrong … and how could it possibly be damaging to correct Biblical teachings and understanding of the WORD of GOD?  Let’s take a look!

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end.
Amen.

Answer: The part of the prayer above in black color is perfectly OK … a great tribute to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The part in orange color has a lot wrong with it … written long ago … and probably with sincere ignorance of Bible theology. Nevertheless, that part of the prayer can produce serious negative internal conflicts within people without their awareness.

Unfortunately, there are many Christians with internal religious conflicts (and that is a huge problem in Christianity). The usual solution for exasperated clergy is to burn out and proclaim that certain doctrine must be accepted on blind faith.

That is a grand cop-out (i.e., evasion) and does little more than give parishioners a way to bury their troublesome concerns that won’t go away … and let their souls continue to suffer unresolved agony … but many members may just give up and quit the church.

If we take a shallow dive into that orange colored part of the prayer above … we can find plenty wrong with it … but we need not discuss every relevant Bible verse (i.e., a few examples should awaken diligent hearts and minds):

1. Fact: There is almost nothing now as it was in the beginning (Genesis 1:1-31).

2. Fact: Most people unconsciously miss the point that the WORD no longer exists (John 1:1-2). Note: Do not let your brain get scrambled by the apparent contradiction in those two verses … follow the Bible logic. It becomes apparent that GOD the Father does everything through the WORD (and later, through the incarnate WORD (John 1:14).

3. Fact: The world is not now (and shall not be) as it was in the beginning for three really big reasons:

    • In His transition of responsibility, the WORD became the incarnate Man Jesus Christ (John 1:14) … and later became the Resurrected-Glorified Ascended Jesus Christ John 20:17.
    • The Son was NOT present in the beginning either. Jesus Christ technically became the Son of GOD at Mary’s conception (i.e., when the fertilized egg attaches to the uterine wall) … because that is when Man-Jesus Christ began His life as the Son of GOD (Luke 1:35).
    • The world absolutely will end in a fiery destruction (2 Peter 3:10) … and new heavens and a new earth will be created by the Resurrected-Glorified Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:13).

The problem with many of the 43+ thousand Christian denominations around the world is that church doctrines usually prevail over Biblical theology … and most Christians are miserably curled up in their blankets of ignorance.

We have similar problems in medical practices as we do in Christian theology.

Many patients live long enough to develop medical problems that exceed the attending physician’s skill level … and the physician often can only lead their patients on with palliative (soothing or pain-relieving) treatments until the end of their days.

Many parishioners often suffer through poorly trained clergy that lack any skills beyond canned sermons. Most of them deal with problem theology by telling their parishioners that they will just have to accept it on blind faith (i.e., like the Trinity Doctrine, which is actually duck-soup simple to teach … as explained in the book below).

Nevertheless, clergy often pass off prayers and sermons onto their congregations who have already learned information beyond the skill levels of their pastors … and many pastors and their congregations burn out together in frustration as they fail to understand the dynamic changes in the celestial universe … and in the new worlds to come.

Even though Hebrews 13:8 says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever … that is only true in a theological sense … because Jesus Christ has NOT always been the Jesus Christ that people see hanging on a cross in many churches. That particular Jesus Christ no longer exists!

They fail to bring Jesus Christ down off the cross …  and then bring the Resurrected-Glorified-Ascended Jesus Christ into the 21st Century … but the world is ready for the powerful,  transformed Jesus Christ.

The future is far different than most modern Christian churches proclaim … because many of them know that the church age is fast approaching the end of its existence … and they absolutely do not seem to know how to deal with it.

For example … the Millennium is fast approaching … and the Bible does not show the existence of evil in that 1000-year period. Why?  There is no continuation of a world without end … because the current heavens and earth will be annihilated before being recreated with new heavens and a new earth (2 Peter 3:7-12).

In conclusion, we can see that the “Glory be to the Father” prayer is pretty, but it is not theologically correct.

Prayers like this one can be inspirational for a while … but new converts (as well as older members) may eventually run into conflicts and just silently drop out of the congregation.

The church fathers who use “Glory be to the Father” … might kindly consider updating it to something else more in line with Biblical theology …  for example, something like this:

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
As GOD was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, new worlds without end.
Amen.

NOTE:

NO prayer … and NO blessing … can justify the practice of a sin no matter who proclaims it to be OK (i.e., NO King, President, Pope, Priest, Preacher, Dictator … and not even Jesus Christ). Only by repentance can a sin be forgiven … with the condition that the sin is stopped … by the words of Jesus Christ Himself (John 5:14 and John 8:11).

My job is not to build a church … but to help you build your church … and expand the kingdom of GOD (Mark 16:15-16).
